Ray John Leon, Jr.
Ray John Leon, Jr., 71 of McAlester, Oklahoma died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at a local nursing center in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Private services will be held at a later date under direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
Ray John Leon, Jr. was born February 16, 1941 in Santa Maria, California the son of Ray, Sr. & Rita Ann (Flores) Leon. He graduated from Santa Maria High School in the class of 1959. In his younger years, he worked for a number of years as a lineman for General Telephone. Ray married Beverly Reeb on October 31, 1969. He later worked for numerous years as a salesman, working for Arroyo Grande Furniture and later opening Arroyo Grande Outlet before moving to Oklahoma in 2007.
After moving to McAlester, Oklahoma. Ray worked for McAlester Regional Health Hospital as a transportation tech until his retirement due to his health. Ray was a generous and kind hearted compassionate person, always enjoyed taking care of his family with his wife being his first priority in life. He also enjoyed animals and fishing.
Survivors include his wife: Beverly Leon of the home; A son: Ray Galvin & wife, Janice of California; 3 Daughters: Kelly Platt of Missouri, Vickie Castillo & husband, Juan of Nevada, Cheryl Tanner & husband, Daniel of Oklahoma; 2 Brothers: Doug Leon of California; Ritchie Leon of California; A Sister: Sharon Melton & husband, Russ of California; 9 Grandchildren: Steven Amaral & wife, Nancy of California; Jason Amaral of Nevada, Travis Ekema & wife, Katelyn of California, Trevor Ekema & wife, Victoria of Texas, Justin Ekema of California, Nichole Adam & husband, Austin of California, Ryan Tanner & wife, Kate of Texas, Joshua Branhham of Missouri, Cevin Platt of Missouri; 4 Great-Grandchildren: Thomas Amaral, Tristan Ekema, Sawyer Adam & Kalub Ulrich.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray, Sr. & Rita Leon.
