Mary Jean Silva (Silva) VIEW PROFILE

Mary Jean Silva was born and raised in Santa Maria, CA.  She received her angel's wings on Wednesday, February 27 peacefully in her home surrounded by family and friends, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  She is survived by her husband Manuel Silva of 48 years.  She is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Mary Silva.  She attended St Mary's Catholic school and graduated from Santa Maria High in 1959.

Mary Jean worked for 13 years at various local Bank of America branches, and for 28 years at Mid-state Bank, Arroyo Grande branch.  She was very involved in the local Portuguese community and organizations.  She spent countless hours volunteering and supporting all of the local Portuguese lodges and festas during the years, including reigning as Queen of the UPPEC lodge.  Mary Jean and Manuel enjoyed many years of traveling, including many trips to the Azores Islands; their home away from home.  An avid gardener, Mary Jean's roses and gladiolas were her pride and joy.  She and Manuel also loved dancing to all kinds of music and enjoying the company of friends and family.  Her infectious personality and quick wit endeared her to many over the years.

Recitation of the rosary for Mary Jean Silva will be held at 7PM, tuesday, March 5 at Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel.  A Chirstian Mass will be held Wednesday March 6 at 10am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Final interment will be at Arroyo Grande Cemetery immediately following.  Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel in Grover Beach.
