Ora May Gass, 76, passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2017 after a short illness. Ora Mae was born on April 16, 1941 in Harris County, TX, and moved to Casmalia in 1957. She graduated from Santa Maria High School in 1959 and worked as a hotel maid in Santa Maria, machinist at John Ingles' Frozen Foods, counter help at Coors Recycling Center and teacher's aide at Glad Tidings Preschool. Ora Mae met her husband, Stanley Gass, while working at John Ingles' in 1968. They were married in 1969 and married for 47 years. They had one daughter together, Laura Lee Gass, born in 1970.

Ora Mae leaves behind her loving husband, Stan, daughter Laura, son-in-law Buddy, and grandchildren William, Jared and Patrick. She is also survived by six step children, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 5pm on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Casmalia Community Church, 3502 Point Sal Rd, Casmalia.
